My name is Vanessa Trettel, and I have been a newborn photographer in CT for more than 5 years having already taken countless photos of newborns. I am going to give you some information on what a newborn photoshoot looks like here. So you, Mom, are already more or less prepared about what is going to happen and then you are more relaxed.
I know that there are a lot of expectations and anxiety right now, they are normal. So in order not to make them bigger than they need to be, some small guidelines help! The newborn session is long: lasts 2 to 4 hours, depending on the baby's sleep.
The newborn photos are taken between 6 to 12 days, and most of the photos are taken with the baby sleeping just so that we can put him in the poses. This is a beautiful record of the beginning of the life of a person who has already become (I am sure) the most important of your life!
It must be done with joy, without worries and in a responsible manner. SAFETY, comfort and well-being of the baby must always come first. Long before the beautiful photo!
BABY-STEPS1) When you arrive, I receive you and settle into the studio, which will be warm, because as we do the photos with little clothes and naked the temperature must be around 80 F (this means that in the studio it will be very hot, so come with a summer outfit).2) We take the baby's clothes off and leave him just in a diaper, wrapped in his little blanket. The mother breastfeeds the baby and then makes him sleep.
3) After the baby falls asleep, I pick him up and carefully and calmly, fix him on one of the production sets(basket, bucket, box, bean bag…)
4) Then I adjust the pose and start shooting. You are always present, admiring your babyThe photos themselves are taken quickly, what takes (and for that we need calm and patience) is to make him sleep and put him in the poses. The deeper his nap, the easier and faster this process becomes. If between a change of accessories and another one he doesn't wake up, I will take pictures. Otherwise, we sleep again until he falls asleep again to start over. Always in no hurry.I have no problems if I have to wait a long time until he falls asleep, this is my job, I LOVE doing it and I have a lot of patience. So what I ask you to do is also to arrive with that spirit, that is, be calm and try to relax. You can't be in a hurry or be anxious.Every time we think he needs to stop to change his diaper or suck, we stop and then start over. The newborn session is long due to all these phases and breaks, lasts an average of 3 hours. That's why I like to emphasize: you need to be calm and patient because the time and pace of the session is given by the baby. Take the opportunity to take a break from the rush of the last few days with new routines and tasks and enjoy the moment!
5) We will do during the rehearsal, it can be at the beginning or at the end, some pictures of the baby together with parents and siblings.I will give guidance as to the costumes of mom and dad
The photos are taken at the Studio located in Ansonia, CT. The studio has all the convenience to receive mom and dad. If you want to see availability or just ask a question, send us a message.
